A Pompano Beach woman says she is afraid for her safety after a man was caught on camera repeatedly touching himself outside her bedroom window while she and her children were inside their home. The incident happened shortly before 4 a.m. on July 24 in a neighborhood near Atlantic Boulevard.

The woman, whose identity CBS News Miami is withholding for her safety, said she reported the incident to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. She said she heard nothing about the case for months. She also believes she saw the same man on another occasion, after a neighbor recognized him and asked whether he was the person she had seen before.

That changed Friday, when two BSO officers came to her home to take another statement. The woman said the officers told her the statement was needed to move forward with pressing charges, making an arrest and obtaining a warrant.

BSO told CBS News Miami the case remains open and active. The woman said she believes the station’s inquiries prompted the renewed contact. The agency had not responded to a late-Friday request for more details on the investigation, and no arrest has been confirmed.
