A small bridge partially collapsed near Hillsboro Pines, a neighborhood along the border of Coconut Creek and Pompano Beach, closing the roadway to all traffic. No injuries have been reported.

The Broward County Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division said the collapse was discovered early Thursday morning. Helicopter video from 7Skyforce showed the scene in the area of Northwest 74th Place and 48th Avenue just after 12:50 p.m.

County officials said the damage may be linked to the deterioration of two culverts beneath the bridge, which crosses a canal. Recent rainfall may have worsened the existing problems, officials said.

Crews have closed the bridge while they assess the damage, and law enforcement officers are helping keep the area safe. Drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Officials also said the collapse has affected some utility services in Coconut Creek. The source did not specify which services were disrupted or when they would be restored, and no reopening date has been announced.
