Students at the Palm Beach Gardens Community High School Culinary Academy are learning more than recipes and kitchen technique, according to the program’s instructor, Brian Schuyler.

Schuyler said the academy is designed to teach life skills that carry beyond the kitchen. He explained the program’s focus and the opportunities it offers students.

The academy is one of the career and technical education programs run by the School District of Palm Beach County. The district offers these programs for students from pre-K through high school graduation, with the goal of preparing them for higher education or a career.

Jordyn Bailey, a student in the program, said she enjoys the academy and has picked up important lessons and skills through her participation.

For families in northern Palm Beach County, the story offers a look at one of the district’s hands-on pathways for high school students considering a career in food service or hospitality.
