Havana Harry’s has reopened in Coral Gables after more than a year of renovations, bringing a refreshed dining room to its Cuban comfort food menu. The restaurant, at 4612 S Le Jeune Rd., had been closed for about a year while crews worked on the space.

Owner and manager Felix Palencia said the kitchen kept its core recipes. The signature vaca frita, slow-cooked and shredded meat sautéed with onions and Cuban mojo, is back on the menu, along with the ham milanesa, a breaded steak topped with ham, cheese and milanesa sauce. Palencia said portions remain generous.

For dessert, the Nutella Overdose combines vanilla ice cream, Nutella and a brownie, topped with chocolate crumble, chocolate ganache and whipped cream.

Diners who returned for the reopening said the new layout looks striking, but the food tastes the same as it always has. The restaurant has operated for more than 30 years in Miami, according to the report.
