Fuerza Regida was the biggest winner at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, which returned to the James L. Knight Center in Miami on Thursday. The group took eight awards, including four for “Malboro Rojo,” and received the Billboard Vanguard Award for its role in bringing Mexican music to new audiences.
Bad Bunny won seven awards, including Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year and Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year. He did not attend in person. Karol G also stayed away and still collected four honors, including the inaugural Artista de los Fans award, which let the public pick the winner directly.
Peso Pluma entered with the most nominations, 17, and finished with four wins. Rosalía received the Billboard Hall of Fame Award from Juan Luis Guerra and won Latin Pop Album of the Year for LUX.
The show also included a tribute to Juan Gabriel, marking 10 years since his death, performed by Carlos Rivera, Pablo Alborán, Jessi Uribe, Paola Jara and Yahritza y Su Esencia. Technical problems briefly disrupted the Peacock broadcast, but organizers kept the program moving, according to the report.
