The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce has selected Genaro “Chip” Iglesias as its new president and CEO. He will formally start the job on Dec. 1, 2026, the Chamber said in a press release.

Jorge Martinez, the Chamber’s 2026-2027 board chair, said Iglesias was picked after an extensive search that drew dozens of candidates. Martinez pointed to Iglesias’s experience leading government, nonprofit and association organizations across Miami-Dade County.

Iglesias most recently served as city manager of South Miami. His earlier roles include deputy mayor and chief of staff for Miami-Dade County, village manager of Key Biscayne, and managing partner at Ballard Partners, where he chaired the local government practice. He also served as president of the Ocean Reef Community Association and spent 24 years with the Miami Fire Department, retiring as a fire captain in 2005.

Iglesias holds a doctorate in organizational leadership from Saint Francis University and an MBA from Florida International University. He sits on several boards, including the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and the Miami Children’s Chorus.

In his statement, Iglesias said he would focus on advocacy for members and on building on the Chamber’s history. The Chamber represents more than 1,600 members and marks 100 years in operation.
