Misha’s Cupcakes, a Miami fixture for 21 years, is closing for good. Founder Misha Kuryla announced the end of the business in an Instagram Reel posted Wednesday, Oct. 21, and she said the closure is permanent, not a temporary pause.
Kuryla started the business in 2005 at her kitchen table, after hearing a news report about a booming cupcake business in California. She opened a kiosk at Dadeland Mall in 2007 and her first storefront in Coral Gables in 2008. By 2015, the company had locations across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, more than 36 flavors and wholesale sales at stores including Whole Foods and Milam’s Market.
She opened a flagship bakery in the former Swensen’s space in Coral Gables in 2024. It closed in May 2026, and a London Square location shut in December 2025. A pop-up in Coral Gables followed.
In her farewell video, Kuryla thanked customers for decades of birthdays, weddings, baby showers and everyday treats. Longtime fans flooded the comments section with memories, and many said the cupcakes had become a staple at family gatherings and school events.
Cupcakes will be sold at Clementine’s Wine Gourmet, 2714 Ponce de Leon Blvd. in Coral Gables, through the end of October. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the business closes Nov. 1.
