A traffic stop at a Delray Beach four-way intersection ended with a Boynton Beach man facing six drug-related charges, including one for fentanyl. Peter Simo, 30, was arrested early Oct. 29, according to an arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com.

The probable cause affidavit says an officer saw Simo’s black Infiniti fail to stop properly at the intersection of SE 1st Street and SE 4th Avenue. Simo was alone in the car and was allegedly reaching behind the front passenger seat as the officer approached. The officer then reported seeing a sheathed fixed-blade knife and smelling marijuana.

Simo told the officer he had been reaching for a can, that his medical marijuana card had expired and that the odor came from earlier use. Police searched the car and reported finding an open can of an alcoholic beverage, several vials and capsules, a loose orange pill and a hand-rolled cigarette. Field tests were positive for fentanyl, MDMA, marijuana and marijuana wax, the affidavit said. It also lists a 30 mg amphetamine pill.

The charges include fentanyl, MDMA, marijuana wax, marijuana under 20 grams, amphetamine without a prescription and drug paraphernalia. Simo was booked into jail and later released on $22,000 bond.

The charges are allegations, and Simo is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
