U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz and former Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer are competing for Florida’s 25th Congressional District, a coastal seat that was redrawn mid-decade and now runs from Delray Beach through Broward County and into Miami-Dade’s barrier islands, including Miami Beach. Both men say Washington needs fixing, and each argues the other is part of the problem.
Moskowitz, a two-term Democrat, is known for his combative style on Capitol Hill and says he works across the aisle. Singer, a Republican endorsed by President Donald Trump, is running on his municipal management record and says he will push the president’s agenda in Congress.
The Oct. 5 state voter tally shows Republicans with a 6-point edge in the district, though Trump’s 2024 margin there was about 9 points. Election forecasters have moved the race toward Democrats. The Cook Political Report, Sabato’s Crystal Ball and Fox News shifted it to “Lean Democratic,” and Inside Elections moved it to “Tilt Democratic.” Competing partisan polls have shown each candidate ahead.
The contest has drawn more outside spending than any other U.S. House race in Florida. Both candidates are Jewish lawyers with South Florida roots, and both strongly support Israel. Each has also questioned the other’s record. Singer’s campaign has argued that Moskowitz has not gotten any of the bills he introduced as lead sponsor signed into law. Moskowitz has accused Singer of failing to confront antisemitism on the right.
Libertarian Peter Jassenoff and write-in candidate Michaelangelo Hamilton are also running. Election Day is Nov. 3.
