Two men are accused of kidnapping and robbing two people at a short-term rental in Lake Worth Beach, according to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit.
Investigators identified Eric Matthew Raby II and Michael Rescigno as suspects in the July incident at a home on South Ocean Breeze. Detectives said the victims were invited to the Airbnb, then confronted, threatened and robbed.
The victims told investigators that jewelry and other property worth more than $10,000 was taken. One victim said he was assaulted and later sought medical treatment for facial injuries. Detectives said the two were not allowed to leave the property and were threatened while inside. They eventually escaped and called law enforcement.
Detectives reviewed cell phone records, text messages, social media messages, surveillance footage and license plate reader data. Authorities said that evidence placed both suspects at the Airbnb around the time of the crimes.
Raby is charged with two counts of kidnapping, robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery and grand theft. The affidavit also describes allegations against Rescigno, but charging documents for him were not included in the records reviewed.
