A South Florida man who was charged in 2024 with falsely posing as the manager of rapper Sexyy Red is facing new sexual assault charges in Hialeah, according to police and arrest records.

Vladimir Jean-Joseph, a self-described promoter with a criminal past, was first accused in October 2024 of telling a woman he represented the St. Louis rapper, whose legal name is Janae Nierah Wherry. The woman said she had been working an event for Sexyy Red at Booby Trap on the River, a strip club on NW South River Drive in an unincorporated part of Miami-Dade. Charges in that case were dropped two months later, and records do not explain why. Local 10 News has requested prosecutors’ documents on the decision.

The new case stems from the Halloween weekend. Hialeah police said a woman from Orlando told investigators she met Jean-Joseph, now 43, at a club in May, where he introduced himself as the rapper’s representative. Police said he offered her and her friends a free place to stay at an apartment in Hialeah. Police said he entered her bedroom uninvited and sexually assaulted her despite her objections.

Detectives arrested Jean-Joseph on Tuesday at Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. He faces charges of sexual battery and unlawful imprisonment. A second woman also reported an assault, but she did not provide a statement, so no charges were filed in her case. Jean-Joseph was already out on bond on separate charges and was being held at the Metrowest Detention Center. State records show he has served three prison terms for theft, burglary and fraud in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.
