A driver escaped from an SUV that sank into a canal in Davie on Sunday. The vehicle went into the water after the driver reportedly lost control, according to the source report.
The driver got out of the vehicle before police arrived. No injuries were reported.
The car was nearly fully submerged when officers reached the scene. Police divers checked the water to make sure no one else was inside the vehicle or in the canal. Crews then hooked a wrecker to the SUV and pulled it out.
The report did not say what caused the driver to lose control or whether any roads were closed during the recovery.
