Rain returns to South Florida on Wednesday morning, and more showers are expected through the day. Local 10 News said the ground is already saturated, which raises the risk of flooding.

Showers are expected to be scattered. Widespread totals are likely to stay under 2 inches, but the reasonable worst case is 3 to 5 inches in some spots. That would come on top of 8 to 10 inches of rain that parts of South Florida have already received since Sunday.

Drier weather is forecast to return starting Thursday. A cold front is expected to move into South Florida by Friday into Saturday.

Residents in low-lying areas and neighborhoods that have already taken on water should keep an eye on local alerts and plan for slow travel during heavier bursts of rain.
