The French-inspired café and bakery Maman opened its doors Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Shadowood Square in West Boca Raton. The location is at 9959 Glades Road, Suite 120.

Founders Benjamin Sormonte and Elisa Marshall drew on childhood memories of their mothers in the South of France and North America for the concept. “Maman” is French for “mother.”

The café features sun-filled interiors with rustic wooden farm tables and blue-and-white china, along with floral arrangements and custom tilework. The menu includes family-style dishes, artisanal coffees and baked goods.

A children’s play area, created with Te Como A Besos, gives families a place to spend time while parents linger over coffee. The owners describe the space as designed for slow mornings, catching up with friends and family outings.

For West Boca residents, the opening adds a new gathering spot to the Glades Road shopping center.
