A 20-year-old Riviera Beach man was arrested Friday, Oct. 2, on felony charges tied to a May crash in Lake Worth that critically injured a 19-year-old woman, according to records released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division.

Authorities identified the suspect in crash logs as T. J. T. A judge approved an arrest warrant, and he faces charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury.

The crash happened about 11:22 p.m. on May 18 at State Street and 10th Avenue North. Deputies tried to stop T. J. T.’s BMW X4 after he exited Interstate 95 at high speed, but he sped away. Deputies ended the stop under pursuit safety rules and turned around.

Moments later, the BMW came up behind a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by D. J. B., 19, of Lake Worth, as she turned left onto State Street. The BMW was traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes when it struck the Camry’s left side. The Camry was pushed onto a sidewalk, while the BMW hit a light pole and a bus stop before overturning.

Police said T. J. T. ran from the wreck without helping the victim. A sheriff’s K-9 unit found him nearby. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue took D. J. B. to St. Mary’s Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Authorities said her next of kin had been notified.

The case was investigated under Case #26061783, which included a crash reconstruction and a vehicular homicide review.
