Four Parkland public schools ranked among the top 5 percent of elementary and middle schools in Florida in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings, according to a Broward County Public Schools statement.
Park Trails Elementary led the city’s elementary schools, ranking No. 142 out of 4,751 schools statewide, or roughly the top 3 percent. Riverglades Elementary ranked No. 214, and Heron Heights Elementary ranked No. 226. Westglades Middle School placed No. 103 out of 3,514 middle schools statewide.
The four Parkland schools were among 23 elementary schools and five middle schools in Broward County to make the state’s top 5 percent. Everglades Elementary led the district’s elementary schools at No. 19, and Beachside Montessori Village led the county’s middle schools at No. 11.
Superintendent Howard Hepburn said 50 elementary schools and 16 middle schools in the district ranked in the top 15 percent of their grade levels. He credited teachers and administrators for the results.
The rankings use state math and reading or language arts test results. Half of the formula weighs raw scores, and the other half considers those results in the context of students’ socioeconomic backgrounds. The full rankings are available through U.S. News & World Report.
