The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from their first World Series title, holding a 3-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays heading into Game 4 on Tuesday night.

Two Brewers have strong ties to South Florida. Manager Pat Murphy attended Florida Atlantic University, where he played on the school’s inaugural baseball team in 1981 as a catcher and infielder. He occasionally pitched, too. FAU later named him to its 20th Anniversary Team, and he was inducted into the school’s Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008.

Pitcher Shane Drohan grew up in Fort Lauderdale and graduated in 2017 from Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach. He played college baseball at Florida State. In the National League Championship Series, he pitched one inning and recorded one strikeout.

For local fans, the series offers a rare chance to root for a team with two homegrown connections, one through a college program in Boca Raton and one through a high school in West Palm Beach.
