The City of Boca Raton is adding three school zones to its School Zone Safety Program, with the second phase set to begin November 9, 2026. The city did not name the three new schools in the text of its announcement, which directs readers to a program webpage for details.
The first phase covers the Addison Mizner School, Boca Raton Community High School and J.C. Mitchell Elementary School zones. The city said the goal is to keep students and school staff safe.
Cameras run only when the flashing school zone lights are on. When cameras are first activated at each zone, drivers get a 30-day warning period. After that, drivers traveling 11 mph or more over the posted speed limit will receive a $100 civil citation. The city said the citation carries no points on the driver’s license and no impact on insurance rates.
Families and drivers in the new zones should expect enforcement to start once the warning period ends. Residents can find the full list of zones and program details on the city’s School Zone Safety Program webpage.
