Deerfield Beach residents turned out Saturday at Johnie McKeithen Park to pick up free fruit trees, the city said in an Instagram post. The city did not give a start or end time in the post.

The trees include mangoes, ‘Ruby Supreme’ guavas, jaboticabas and cherries. City officials said they hope the trees will grow in backyards across the city and help expand Deerfield Beach’s tree canopy.

The city thanked its staff for loading vehicles, guiding residents through the pickup line and keeping the process running smoothly.
