Congregation B’nai Israel, a Reform synagogue in Boca Raton with more than 1,100 member families, planned to formally install Rabbi Erica Rosenkranz as its senior associate rabbi at an Installation Shabbat on Friday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. The service was set for the temple at 2200 Yamato Road.
A rabbinic installation is a formal ceremony that marks a rabbi’s official tenure and formalizes the working partnership between the rabbi and the congregation. The temple said such events are rare and often happen only once a generation.
The evening was to include special guests and presentations from the temple’s board, its schools and auxiliary groups. A reception, called an oneg, was scheduled to follow.
Rosenkranz has been active in local Jewish causes, including the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, which serves West Palm Beach and Boca Raton. Her husband, Rabbi Andrew Rosenkranz, leads Temple Beth Torah in Wellington.
The temple said the community was looking forward to the celebration at a time of heightened antisemitism in the global climate.
