Students at The Greene School in West Palm Beach have turned most of the high school’s first floor into this year’s Haunted Hall, mixing artificial intelligence with traditional art, woodworking, music and theater. WPTV reporter Christy Waite toured the school to see the displays.
The attractions include a handcrafted graveyard and a life-size wooden haunted carriage. Students in the school’s AI Apps and Innovation class built moving portraits and floating heads, using the technology to add depth to the scenes. Live student musicians play as visitors move through the halls, and a buffet of ceramic food, including brains and bones, adds to the effect.
Visual Arts Instructor Sarah Knouse said the project shows how students can turn ideas into reality through collaboration. Senior Lilyana Martin said the group aimed for a space that looks and feels haunted. Freshman Markeith Bodwell-Gosier said students are gaining hands-on experience with a tool he expects to be part of nearly everything in the future.
Knouse said AI works best when it builds on a student’s original concept rather than replacing it. The event is an annual school tradition that took about a year to prepare.
