The Rotary Club of Boca Raton’s OPAL Society held its annual reception at Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club to announce the honorees for its February gala. The group, which stands for Outstanding People & Leaders, is known for its close-knit membership, according to co-chair Neil Saffer.

Co-chair Jan Savarick introduced five honorees. They include Camilla and Mike Goodwin, who started the nonprofit Myla’s Beleaf after losing their daughter to childhood cancer, and who also host community groups at Crazy Uncle Mike’s brewery and music venue in north Boca Raton. The list also includes Florida Atlantic University President Adam Hasner and first lady Jillian Hasner; Zoe Lanham, vice president of The Addison special events venue; philanthropists Arline and John McNally, whose foundation made a major gift to the Lynn Cancer Institute; and Rotarian John Mollica, recognized for his service.

Honorary chair Christine E. Lynn attended and received applause. Savarick also received the Living Legend Award earlier the same day at Her Health Summit.

Proceeds from the OPAL program fund scholarships and mentorships. Gala co-chair Dara Siegel said the club focuses on the whole student and that its members “show up.” Sponsorships and tickets for the February awards gala are available through the Rotary Club of Boca Raton’s website.
