A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday after Hialeah police say he stole nearly $850 in merchandise from the Target at 1750 W. 37th St. over two separate incidents.

Police said a loss prevention officer saw Orlando Drekeramos put several razors and perfume items into a black backpack and walk past all points of sale without paying. He left on foot toward West 16th Avenue, where officers detained a man matching the description. Surveillance footage confirmed his involvement, and officers recovered the merchandise from his backpack.

The items taken Sunday were valued at $401.13. The loss prevention officer also reported a earlier theft by the same suspect on June 21, involving $448.83 in merchandise. Police said the two incidents total $849.96.

Drekeramos faces a felony retail theft charge under a Florida statute covering merchandise valued at $750 or more with a prior conviction. He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

At his Monday bond court appearance, a judge found probable cause in two theft cases and set his total bond at $3,000.
