Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natalie Milian Orbis is endorsing Jesus Tundidor in the pending special election for House District 112, the Tundidor campaign announced Monday. She is the first county commissioner to back him, and the seventh notable endorsement the former Hialeah Council president has collected since entering the race Sept. 18.

Milian Orbis represents Commission District 6, which includes Miami Springs, Virginia Gardens and parts of Hialeah and Miami. Her statement pointed to Miami International Airport and the development around it, including Nu Stadium, the 26,700-seat home of Inter Miami at Miami Freedom Park, which opened in April. She said the area offers a chance to bring new investment, jobs and economic opportunity.

Tundidor said he would push for infrastructure spending in Tallahassee, including roads and transit, and for growth that keeps costs down for taxpayers. Lawmakers this year put $5 million in the budget for a new road and sidewalks into Miami Freedom Park at Northwest 37th Avenue and 17th Street, and Gov. Ron DeSantis did not veto it.

Tundidor, a healthcare executive and lifelong Hialeah resident, served on the Hialeah City Council from 2019 until January. He placed second in November’s Hialeah mayoral race. Other endorsers include Future House Speaker Mike Redondo, who won the gavel after the 2030 elections, according to the source’s framing, along with Miami-Dade School Board member Dan Espino, Miami Commissioner Rolando Escalona and Miami Springs Mayor Walter Fajet.

The seat is open because Rep. Alex Rizo, a Hialeah Republican, is running for Senate District 39. DeSantis has not yet called either special election. No other candidates have announced for the seat, which covers most of Hialeah, Miami Springs, Virginia Gardens and part of Miami.
