President Donald Trump returned to Palm Beach on Friday for his first trip of the season to Mar-a-Lago. His arrival brought heightened security around the island and the traffic disruptions that typically come with presidential visits.

Trump came to South Florida after a campaign stop at Dalton Municipal Airport in Georgia, where he appeared with Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Collins and gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson. Recent polling has shown Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff leading Collins in the Georgia Senate race. Trump told the crowd in Dalton that turnout would be critical, calling it “the most important midterm election” he could recall.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said the county received a state exemption that lets license plate reader cameras stay on state roads as an added layer of presidential protection. He said the county worked with the Secret Service on the request.

Trump is expected to travel to Kentucky on Saturday and return to Palm Beach later that day. Those movements are likely to bring more closures as his motorcade moves through the area. He is expected to leave South Florida for the White House on Sunday.
