A six-vehicle crash on the southbound Florida Turnpike near Glades Road in Boca Raton caused major delays midday Wednesday. The crash was reported just before 10:45 a.m.
Rescue crews responded in force. BocaNewsNow said it was not aware of any critical injuries, but traffic was backed up for miles.
The Florida Department of Transportation listed the delays as “major” on its traffic system. Because the crash involves multiple vehicles, the Florida Highway Patrol and other agencies will need time to investigate before all cars can be towed, the outlet reported.
Drivers should expect significant delays for the next hour or two on the southbound Turnpike, starting at Atlantic Avenue. Motorists heading south through Palm Beach County may want to consider alternate routes until the scene clears.
