Parkland resident Daniel Haim finished 15th in the men’s 50-54 division at the USA Track & Field Masters 5K National Championships in Atlanta on Oct. 24. The 50-year-old ran the 3.1-mile course in 20 minutes, 25 seconds, good for 52nd among men and 58th overall.
The course included 167 feet of elevation gain. Haim’s mile splits were 6:20, 6:44 and 6:33.
Haim, CEO of Local Spark Solutions, trains around a business and a family. He thanked his wife and children, along with coach Makena Morley and Fly Physio for helping him prepare. “People see the finish time. They don’t see what it took to get to the start line,” he said after the race.
Relay team tribute
Haim also runs with A Run To Honor, a relay team started in 2021 by two Parkland neighbors. The team honors FBI Special Agents Dan Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger, who were killed while serving a search warrant on Feb. 2, 2021.
The team races each year in the KEYS100, a 100-mile relay from Key Largo to Key West. In May 2026, it finished in 13:24:50 and placed second in the Masters division. The team is recruiting runners ahead of its next race on May 15, 2027.
