Inspectors ordered Bagel Time Cafe in Margate to close after finding live roaches in the kitchen during a health inspection on October 19, according to an inspection report.

The cafe, located at 2478 North State Road 7, was inspected as part of a standard health and food review. The inspector saw live roaches between a dish machine and a wall and beneath a flat-top grill, the report says.

The report also documented about 10 dead roaches between fryers on the cookline, stuck to oil on the floor. Inspectors noted air-conditioning vents and returns that were visibly soiled. They also found turkey bacon stored uncovered in a reach-in freezer.

The restaurant must pass a follow-up inspection before it can reopen. For residents who grab breakfast or lunch on State Road 7, the closure means the cafe is off the menu until it clears that reinspection.
