A 19-year-old Margate man is facing charges in the theft of a $210,000 Porsche Panamera from a mansion in Miami-Dade County’s Horse Country neighborhood, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Joseph Dexter Watson IV was arrested Monday, November 3, in connection with the October 24 theft from a home in the 11900 block of Southwest 49th Street.

Deputies said a group burglarized a Cadillac Escalade parked outside the fenced property. One member then climbed the fence, and the group drove off in the Porsche. The victim later tracked the car to a Hampton Inn parking lot in Deerfield Beach, where Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies recovered it. Investigators said about seven pairs of shoes worth $4,200 were inside.

Investigators said GPS data from an ankle monitor linked Watson to the theft. He had been required to wear the device while out on bond after a Margate police detective tried to stop him in January on a Crime Stoppers drug tip. Watson, then 18, fled, drove through a front yard and crashed into a U.S. Postal Service mail truck.

Margate police arrested him again October 27 on a drug charge. He was released on bond Friday, and Miami-Dade deputies arrested him Tuesday near Northeast 167th Street and First Avenue in North Miami Beach.

Watson faces charges that include traveling with intent to commit burglary of an occupied dwelling, masked burglary and grand theft auto. As of Wednesday afternoon, he was being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

For Broward residents, the case shows how electronic monitoring can track a defendant’s location, even when the alleged crimes happen across county lines.

Wait, the arrest date was stated as November 3, which fell on a Monday in 2026.
