A new gym called Kodiak Fitness Center has opened in Coral Springs, taking over the former Planet Fitness location at 2101 North University Drive. The center recently began serving members, according to Coral Springs Talk.

The facility offers full-contact boxing under a trainer’s supervision, along with water- and sand-filled punching bags for those who want a less structured workout. Pilates classes are also on the schedule. Members will find Stairmasters, stationary bikes, ellipticals, treadmills and free weights, and they can watch videos or TV shows while they exercise. The center also has male and female saunas and recovery rooms.

Josiah Dell Stritto, a staff member, said the gym has enough machines that members should rarely have to wait. Trainers are available to help people use the equipment, he said.

Business hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Membership costs $99.99 per month.
