A broken sewer pipeline in Key Biscayne has been repaired, according to the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department. The repair was completed by Saturday, Nov. 7.

The pipeline at Crandon Boulevard broke Tuesday after a contractor struck it. Wastewater leaked into The Pines Canal during the break.

A “do not swim” advisory remains in effect for nearby waterways. The Florida Department of Health has lifted only some of its precautions, so residents should continue to avoid swimming in the affected area until the agency lifts the rest.

Anyone who lives near the canal or uses the water for recreation should watch for updates from the health department.
