A young girl was hurt in a shooting in Pompano Beach after a stray bullet came through her bedroom window and grazed her temple, her mother said. The girl, believed to be about 9 years old, was playing with her sister in the room when the shot hit.
Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a person shot just after 8 p.m. Thursday. The shooting happened in a townhome complex off Northwest Third Street and Northwest 31st Avenue. On Friday, 7News cameras documented bullet holes in the walls of several townhomes and a bullet hole through the window of a local business.
Alejandro Sanchez, a neighbor who lives in the unit below, said he heard about eight shots and saw people running. He said the girls often played at that window.
The girl was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Her mother said she is doing OK. BSO Violent Crimes detectives are investigating, and the source report did not say whether any arrests have been made.
