Port St. Lucie police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who was found unconscious with severe head injuries on a city roadway early Friday.

Passing drivers found the man around 1 a.m. near Northwest University Boulevard and Northwest California Boulevard. Police said he had severe head trauma and significant bleeding. He was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, where he remains in critical condition.

The man did not have identification. Police believe he is middle-aged or older and say he is known to walk in the area overnight.

Investigators described his clothing and belongings: a green, blue and white T-shirt, black shorts, multicolored Brooks athletic shoes, a gray Adidas baseball cap, Wiley X sunglasses and a pink umbrella with a black handle.

Anyone who recognizes him is asked to call the Port St. Lucie Police Department at 772-871-5000. Investigators also want to hear from witnesses and anyone with dashcam or security camera video from the area.
