Apple fans lined up overnight at South Florida stores to buy the company’s first foldable iPhone, and the devices sold out quickly in stores and online. Some people arrived as early as 1 a.m.

Video from Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens showed a line outside the Apple Store around 2 a.m. that stretched around the corner. A security guard at the mall said people began showing up early and believed the phones were already sold out.

Lines were reportedly longer in Miami, where people camped outside the store overnight. Customers said online orders sold out within minutes, and some buyers were told their phones would not arrive until January.

The phone is designed to fold down to about the size of a passport. When opened, it has the largest iPhone display Apple has made, and the larger inner screen lets users run two apps side by side.
