A man driving a stolen pickup truck led Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies on a chase that ended outside Miami International Airport, according to the agency.

A deputy spotted the suspected thief after he left Dadeland Mall, the sheriff’s office said. When deputies tried to pull him over, the driver sped off and struck an MDSO cruiser. The deputy inside the cruiser was not hurt.

The truck was later found in an employee parking lot near the airport. The driver tried to escape again, ramming a fence outside the airport before deputies took him into custody.

The sheriff’s office has not said what charges the man faces. The chase moved from the Dadeland area to the airport grounds, a route that passes through busy roads on the county’s west side.
