Widespread thunderstorms are over for South Florida, and forecasters expect mostly dry weather through the weekend. Local 10 News said only an isolated shower or two is possible on Thursday and again over the weekend.

Temperatures will run above average. Highs are forecast to reach the middle 80s, with a heat index close to 90 degrees, so it will feel warmer than the thermometer suggests.

The outlook for next week is less settled. A weak front is expected to stall near South Florida for much of the week. A low pressure system moving along that front could bring a better chance of rain around the middle of next week.

For residents planning outdoor activities this weekend, the forecast favors dry conditions. Those with plans later in the week should check updates as the front and low pressure system develop.
