Democrat Pia Dandiya has won the election for Florida’s 22nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives, beating Republican challenger Casey Askar, according to WSVN.
Dandiya took 51% of the vote to Askar’s 48%.
Her campaign centered on cost of living, Social Security and education. She also ran on fighting corruption in Washington and on protecting personal freedom.
The win gives Democrats a new voice for the district’s voters in the U.S. House, where the seat will be filled when the new Congress convenes.
