Several gated communities in Boca Raton are locking down for Halloween night, with fencing, cones and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies posted at entrances. At The Oaks, near U.S. 441 and Clint Moore Road, the setup on Saturday evening gave the community a fortified look, according to the report.

Similar measures are in place along the corridor between Lyons Road and U.S. 441, from Atlantic Avenue to Clint Moore Road. Communities named in the report include Seven Bridges, Boca Bridges, The Bridges, Lotus and Mizner Country Club. The goal is to keep out children who do not belong in the neighborhoods, and to bar parents who are not residents or invited guests.

Residents of the area have dealt with problems in recent years, including intoxicated adults driving children on golf carts, unattended kids vandalizing property and clubhouses being used for unauthorized parties.

Under the new rules, many communities will require identification from everyone entering tonight, including children riding in cars driven by adults. Visitors whose names are not on a guest list will not be admitted.

The report notes that homeowners associations can trespass guests, and that police can arrest anyone an HOA security officer flags as being in a community without permission or who is causing problems.
