A man accused of causing a fatal DUI crash in Boca Raton more than two years ago has been returned to the United States to face charges. Investigators located Kyrylo Khytrov in Turkey, and he made his first court appearance Friday.

Khytrov is charged with DUI manslaughter in the July 2024 crash that killed 93-year-old Audrey Milk. Investigators said Khytrov ran a red light at Powerline Road and Palmetto Park Road and struck an SUV carrying Milk. She died six days later from her injuries. Investigators said his blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.

Investigators said Khytrov left Palm Beach County and the United States after the crash. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Criminal Apprehension Team and the U.S. Marshals Service worked the case until he was found in Turkey.

Milk’s son, Stuart Milk, said his mother was active and took no medication, and that she was heading out to dinner with her aide at 5 p.m. when the crash happened. His mother was the sister-in-law of gay rights activist Harvey Milk. Stuart Milk said he hopes the case shows people the serious consequences of impaired driving.

Khytrov is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.
