Boca Raton City Councilwoman Yvette Drucker has been elected Palm Beach County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller. She won the countywide general election over Republican nominee Michael A. Caruso, according to the Boca Raton Tribune.

Drucker is expected to take office later this month. She is a first-generation Cuban American who was re-elected to Seat C on the Boca Raton City Council. On election night, she said she wants to modernize public records, protect taxpayer dollars and make the office more accessible to residents.

Her campaign focused on administrative and financial reform. Priorities include public transparency dashboards, expanded online filing and protecting the county’s multi-billion-dollar investment portfolio.

The clerk’s office handles thousands of court filings, audits county commission finances, runs jury services and keeps official public records across Palm Beach County.

Caruso is an accountant and former state representative who was appointed to the clerk’s post by Gov. Ron DeSantis. The source reports that he was indicted and briefly jailed in August on child sexual abuse accusations and currently faces five felony charges.

Drucker’s move also opens her Boca Raton council seat. City officials will follow the city charter to determine how that seat is filled.
