B’nai Torah Congregation in Boca Raton will host its Mitzvah Day on Sunday, Nov. 8, a morning of volunteer service open to the entire community. The synagogue, which runs the Meryl and Ron Gallatin Tzedakah, Learning & Chesed (TLC) Program, said more than 1,500 people took part in the 2025 event.
This year, more than 20 local organizations will offer hands-on opportunities for volunteers of all ages. Activities include a blood drive, a kidney donor match effort for two congregants who need kidneys, sandwich making, flower arranging and assembling care packages.
The projects are aimed at youth, veterans, seniors, people with special needs, rescue animals, and people facing hunger and homelessness. Volunteers can pick the activities that fit their interests.
Residents can register through the synagogue’s website at btcboca.org. People with questions can contact Summer Faerman, who leads the TLC Program.
The TLC Program was started in 2012 to teach tzedakah, or charitable giving, through learning and action. The synagogue says it is the largest Conservative synagogue in the Southeastern United States, with more than 1,300 member families.
