An 84-year-old Delray Beach woman was arrested and charged after she was removed in handcuffs from a packed Agricultural Reserve meeting last week, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Wendy Ward Bruck was arrested around 9:30 a.m. Oct. 2 at the county facility at 16700 S. Jog Road. The session was led by Palm Beach County Commissioner Maria Sachs and drew an angry crowd, many of them members of the West Delray Beach and West Boca Raton community.
An arrest report says a deputy working security was told to walk Bruck out because she was disrupting the meeting. The report states she refused to leave, refused to cooperate and tried to draw media attention after being asked several times. The deputy handcuffed her and placed her in a patrol car. She was booked into jail and released later on a $2,000 bond.
Bruck faces two misdemeanor counts: disturbing a lawful assembly and resisting an officer without violence. The report does not describe what she said or did inside the room. It says the encounter was recorded on the deputy’s body camera. BocaNewsNow said video it reviewed from the county feed did not appear to show the actions described in the report.
The charges are allegations, and Bruck is presumed innocent unless a court finds otherwise.
