Families in Deerfield Beach smashed their leftover Halloween pumpkins at Quiet Waters Athletic Park before settling in for a screening of “The Wild Robot,” the city said in an Instagram post. The event was part of the city’s Pumpkin Smash and Movies in the Park series.
The city thanked Filthy Organics for partnering on the event. The company turned the smashed pumpkins into compost, which keeps the material out of landfills, the city said.
Officials thanked residents who attended the evening event and said more Movies in the Park events are planned for Deerfield Beach. The post did not list dates or times for future screenings.
