The City of Pompano Beach has canceled the Drone Show Extravaganza scheduled for tonight, Saturday, Nov. 7, because of a presidential Temporary Flight Restriction issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The federal restriction bars drone operations in the designated airspace, which made it impossible to hold the show, the city said in a social media post.
The event was set to mark its fifth anniversary. City officials apologized for the inconvenience and thanked Firefly Drone Shows, Fishing Village businesses, sponsors and residents who had planned to attend.
The post did not say whether the show would be rescheduled.
