Jensen Beach motorcyclist killed after crashing into van in Loxahatchee Groves

A 37-year-old Jensen Beach man died Sunday night after his motorcycle struck the back of a van on Southern Boulevard in Loxahatchee Groves.

A 37-year-old Jensen Beach man was killed Sunday night when his motorcycle slammed into the back of a van on Southern Boulevard in Loxahatchee Groves, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Derrick Teets was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, at Southern Boulevard and D Road near Lion Country Safari. Deputies said he was riding a 2021 Honda CBR600RR.

According to the crash report, Teets was traveling eastbound in the inside lane at a high rate of speed. He was behind a Ford Transit van driven by a 53-year-old Boca Raton woman. Teets was thrown from the bike, and the motorcycle slid into the median.

The sheriff’s office has not said what caused Teets to strike the van. The crash report is the primary account released so far.
