Margate stormwater supervisor Eduardo Morales was named the city’s Mayor’s Choice Employee of the Year at a City Commission meeting on November 4. Mayor Antonio Arserio said Morales was chosen from four candidates.

Public Works Director Gio Batista praised Morales for his effort and enthusiasm. “He is amazing, and the city is blessed to have him. He handles problems very well,” Batista said.

Morales joined the city in 2006 as a custodian. He then moved into canal maintenance services, where he built skills in caring for Margate’s stormwater system and roads. He was promoted to stormwater foreman and later became a supervisor.

Morales said he loves his job and handles problems that come up with the stormwater system. He said he plans to stay in his position.
