An 18-year-old Margate woman has been arrested and charged with child abuse after she allegedly sprayed at least two children in the face with a “mace-like chemical” at Franklin Park in Fort Lauderdale, according to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

The park is at 2501 Northwest 22nd Road. The report identifies the suspect as Isly Taylor. Records show the children gave statements to deputies and named Taylor as the person who sprayed them. Deputies said surveillance video also captured the incident.

Authorities did not release the children’s ages or say whether Taylor knew them. They have not said what prompted the attack.

Deputies took Taylor into custody at her home in Margate and transported her to the Broward County Main Jail.
