Miami International Airport has added a shared online portal for freight forwarders, cargo handlers, truckers and carriers. The airport said the system is meant to cut down on manual information exchanges and give everyone better warning about when cargo will arrive and what it contains, which should ease congestion. The airport handled a record 3.4 million tons of freight in 2025, making it the busiest freight airport in the U.S. and third in the world behind Hong Kong and Shanghai. That works out to a daily average of 190 cargo-only flights and 1,600 cargo truck trips.

Developer Gencom has bought the IntercontinentalMiami Hotel at the mouth of the Miami River. The company is building the $1.5 billion Miami Riverbridge project nearby, which will include two hotels and 700 apartments on the site of the Hyatt Regency Miami. The 652-room hotel opened in 1983 as the Pavilion and was recently renovated. It has 35 meeting rooms and more than 90,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. White Bridge Capital and its partners supplied a significant share of the equity for the deal.

In Coral Gables, the city bought a 53,029-square-foot medical office building at 475-495 Biltmore Way for $24 million. The building is on the same block as City Hall and the Planning and Zoning Department, and the city said it wants the property to plan for future growth. The building was 94% leased at closing. The seller, ShareMD, changed its name to Parallel Medical Properties at the closing. The city plans to hire the seller’s property management affiliate, Medicus Asset Management, to run the building for the coming year.
