Miami police seek driver in fatal Little Havana hit-and-run

Miami police are asking the public to help identify a driver in a Tuesday morning hit-and-run that killed a 26-year-old man.

Miami police are asking the public for help identifying the driver in a hit-and-run that killed a 26-year-old man early Tuesday.

The crash happened at about 12:48 a.m. near Southwest Seventh Avenue and Seventh Street, police said. Investigators identified the victim as Elias Schaber.

Detectives believe the vehicle was a dark-colored Toyota Corolla, model years 2020 through 2025, last seen heading toward Little Havana. Police said the car likely has extensive windshield damage and possible damage to the front passenger side.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes a matching car, including one owned by a neighbor or co-worker or one that turns up at a body shop, to call the Miami Police Department at 305-579-6111. Tips can also be left anonymously with Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
