Federal officials arrested a man at Miami International Airport after they said he tried to smuggle live birds into the United States from Cuba. The arrest is the second of its kind at the airport in recent days.

Roberto Perez Quincosa arrived Tuesday from Havana. During a pat-down at Customs, an agent found eight live birds in tubes sewn into his pockets, according to the source report.

After speaking with agents, Quincosa told them he planned to breed the birds and sell them in the United States for up to $120 each.

On Sunday, agents arrested 40-year-old Alberto Hernandez Castillo at the airport. He had six birds in tubes sewn into his underwear, officials said.

Both cases involve travelers arriving from Cuba and concealed animals on their bodies, a pattern that has drawn the attention of airport agents.
